It's Patriotic To Pay Higher Taxes?

What?!!!

In a news story found here, Democratic Vice President pick, Joe Biden made the following statement:

"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America." Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut."

In words that only the socialist democrat/left will understand: how is confiscating money from the bourgeois and re-distributing it to the proletariat any thing other than communism?

The wealthy in this country are the ones who provide the jobs for the working class to begin with. If the government taxes them too much and takes too much money from them, the less they will be able to pay out for jobs which equates to less jobs available now in the market place which, in turn, equates to even more unemployment. Result: the proletariat suffers even more!

Good job Joe!

This country's birth from revolution against the tyranny of Great Britain involved an outcry against higher taxes from Great Britain, (think the dumping of tea into a Boston harbor), and here we have the democrats employing the same tactic as Great Britain back then: raise taxes. Are modern democrats the remnants of the Torries who lived in America during the Revolutionary War who were on the side of Great Britain against those who were willing to make the ultimate financial, and mortal sacrifice to fight for freedom?

This idiotic ploy from the democrats to over tax the rich and give the proceeds to the middle class is as stupid as their notion that penalizing the oil companies with higher tarrifs to help lower gas prices. Obviously, if the government penalizes oil companies with higher taxes, then the price at the pump will be raised to compensate for the loss incurred by the government.

I would submit that you have to incredibly naive and ignorant to actually side with the democrats on these stances against the wealthy and the oil companies.

If you are sick and tired of the unemployment rate or the high prices at the gas pump then, it is in your best interest to ensure that the message sent to Washington DC is a resounding NO to the Democratic Party.

It is time to send these communist/socialist threats to our Democratic Republic packing.

Biden sends a mixed message here. It's true he wants to "take money" from the successfully wealthy in America. (Every "good" Democrat does.) But how can he put "back in the pocket of middle-class people" money that was never there?

I had this discussion a few weeks ago with an old high-school friend. A couple of his so-called points:
- Taking money from "big oil" to give people rebates won't "hurt" them.
- "less than 2% of our nation's population controls our nation's wealth. So when we talk about reducing taxes for the 95%, we're talking about increasing taxes and reducing tax breaks and exemptions for the richest 5% of our nation."
- "I don't feel it's unfair to penalize and tax those that make more (obscenely more mind you)"

Shortly after this I gave up talking and let him get back to his kool-aid.
