Some More Food For Thought

I, once again, have no idea who the author of this piece is but, it is, nontheless, thought provoking.

Sobering thought!!

A man whose family was German aristocracy prior
to World War 2 owned a number of large industries
and estates. When asked how many German people were
true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our
attitude toward fanaticism. "Very few people were
true Nazis," he said, "but many enjoyed the return
of German pride, and many more were too busy to
care. I was one of those who just thought the
Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just
sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we
knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and
the end of the world had come. My family lost
everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and
the Allies destroyed my factories."

We are told again and again by "experts" and
"talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace,
and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to
live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion
may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is
meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and
meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics
rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at
this moment in history. It is the fanatics who
march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50
shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who
systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups
throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the
entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the
fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill.
It is the fanatics who take over mosque after
mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the
stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.
The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful
majority," the "silent majority" is cowed and
extraneous.

Communist Russia comprised Russians who just
wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists
were responsible for the murder of about 20 million
people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

China's huge population, it was peaceful as
well; but Chinese Communists managed to kill a
staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War
2 was not a war-mongering sadist. Yet, Japan
murdered and slaughtered its way across South East
Asia in an orgy of killing that included the
systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians;
most killed by sword, shovel and bayonet.

And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into
butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of
Rwandans were "peace loving?"

History lessons are often incredibly simple and
blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often
miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by
their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our
enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend
from Germany, they will awake one day and find that
the fanatics own them, and the end of their world
will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese,
Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis,
Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and
many others have died because the peaceful majority
did not speak up until it was too late. As for us
who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to
the only group that counts; the fanatics who
threaten our way of life.

this makes sense. why should we hate all of Islam when those responsable are just a bunch of idiots with guns? if it weren't for them, we would have no problem. Islam is a peaceful religion, it says in the Koran that killing is bad. it's just Osama and those other maniacs made stuff up and force-fed it to others. I have no problem with islam. i have a problem with extremists.

Where did this come from? Who is the author? Where did you pick it up? It's all over the Internet and making the e-mail rounds. Why didn't the person who wrote it identify himself and if he did, where is the original?

Is this saying we're all going to become slaves to the extremists if we don't do something? Do what?

The following could well have been written at almost any time in the last 2,000 years:

It is the fanatics who wage crusades in the name of "God". It is the fanatics who zealously spread the hatred of Jews, Muslims, homosexuals, atheists, agnostics and even different denominations within Christianity. The hard quantifiable fact is that the so-called "peaceful majority," the "silent majority" is cowed and extraneous.

anonymous #1,

I don't know who wrote this. I just agree with the views expressed.

"Is this saying we're all going to become slaves to the extremists if we don't do something?"

That is the message. The Islamofacist sect within Islam has declared its mission to be subjugating the entire world to their sharia law. In other words, convert to Islam or die.

"Do what?"

Wipe them out before they wipe us out. It's pretty straight forward. I'm suprised you didn't get the message.

Anonymous #2,

"and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Christ."

Who are these "fanatical Christians that you are on about?

"The fact is that the fanatics rule Christianity at this moment in history."

Again, who are these "fanatics"?

"It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Jewish or Muslim groups throughout the Middle East and are gradually taking over the entire region in a Christian wave."

And once again, who are these Christian fanatics?

"It is the fanatics who wage crusades in the name of "God"."

That easily fits the Islamo-Fascist terrorists. Are you talking about them?

"It is the fanatics who zealously spread the hatred of Jews, Muslims, homosexuals, atheists, agnostics and even different denominations within Christianity."

Again, who are you talking about?

"The hard quantifiable fact is that the so-called "peaceful majority," the "silent majority" is cowed and extraneous."

This sounds like you are accusing the silent Muslim community who don't speak out against the atrocities that the Islamo-Fascist sect of their religion are committing.

My point was that so-called "Christians" spent much of the last 2,000 years doing what the bit of glurge you posted accuses the Muslims of doing today.

"Christian" crusaders killed Jews and Muslims with equal enthusiasm. What began as English colonies in North America "progressed" to full-scale genocide of the native inhabitants of the country and resulted in virtual slavery and decimation of an entire culture. Japanese-Americans who committed no crime and were never even suspected of being disloyal were forced into concentration camps in the American West. The Mexican-American War was really Protestant "Christians" against Catholics, and American soldiers who spoke out against this atrocity (like the Irishman Lt. Jon Riley and the San Patricio's) were court-martialed and many executed.

Hitler and the Nazi's were "Christians" as were the Southern slave holders and the KKK. Today almost all white-supremacist racist and paramilitary groups claim to be followers of Jesus while they intimidate and murder Jews, Catholics, Latinos, blacks and any other group they choose to label as mongrel, impure or unbelievers.

You will likely claim that these are not examples of true Christians, that they have hijacked the religion. Well, isn't that the very same thing innocent, sincere Muslims say? Why are you any different?

Sorry, in the interest of accuracy I should have pointed out that the San Patricio's were executed because they followed the courage of their convictions, broke ranks with the US Army (which was mistreating and oppressing them because of their Catholicism almost as much as the Mexicans) and joined the side they felt was in the right, the Mexicans.

By the way, the quote you are questioning comes from your original post, not from my comments. Did you even read what you posted or just skim it enough to see it was empty-headed, jingoistic drum-beating?

"much of the last 2,000 years doing what the bit of glurge you posted accuses the Muslims of doing today."

The evil acts done by the Church were the result of evil men in power in the Church. There is nothing in Jesus' teachings that supported any of that.

The distinction must be made between true Chrisitans and those using the label but aren't really following Christ (i.e. Hitler's Nazis, KKK members, people who go to Church just to be seen or for buisness networking benefits.

"Japanese-Americans who committed no crime and were never even suspected of being disloyal were forced into concentration camps in the American West."

The person responsible for this was FDR, the father of modern liberal/socialism in the US, not the Church.

"You will likely claim that these are not examples of true Christians, that they have hijacked the religion. Well, isn't that the very same thing innocent, sincere Muslims say? Why are you any different?"

I'm not any different. And I would agree with their viewpoint. I don't beleive all Muslims to be terrorists.

Of course I read it. Why would I have posted it, if I hadn't read it in the first place?

As for it being "empty-headed", "jingoistic drumbeating",
that is your opinion not mine.
